Mel Auberty Featured in Western Art & Architecture
[Dallas TX] Texas artist Mel Auberty will be featured in the February/March issue of Western Art & Architecture, one of the leading national publications dedicated to Western art and culture. The feature, written by Illuminations columnist Norman Kolpas, coincides with Auberty’s major solo exhibition, Year of the Horse, opening February 17, 2026, at Gallery One Two Three in the Dallas Design District.
Known for her powerful large-scale Blue Horse paintings, Auberty’s work explores movement, resilience, and the enduring bond between humans and horses. The article places her work within the evolving landscape of contemporary Western art, highlighting both her distinctive visual language and decades-long practice across painting, sculpture, and printmaking.
Year of the Horse marks a culmination of 25 years of equine exploration, featuring monumental paintings, drawings, woodcut prints, and sculpture. The Western Art & Architecture feature adds to growing regional and national recognition ahead of the exhibition’s opening and reflects Auberty’s continued impact on the Western art canon.
