Year of the Horse: Exhibition Opening February 17, 2026

[Dallas, TX] – Artist Mel Auberty will honor the Year of the Horse with a special exhibition, opening on February 17, 2026, at Gallery One Two Three in the Dallas Design District. The exhibition will showcase large-scale Blue Horse paintings, woodcut prints, sketches, and sculptures, marking the culmination of 25 years of Auberty’s exploration of equine form, movement, and spirit.

Auberty’s Blue Horses have become iconic, collected widely across Texas and the U.S. Her work is deeply personal—born in the Year of the Horse—Auberty grew up on horseback, and has dedicated her life to both painting and rescuing equines. For the past decade, she has expanded her passion beyond the canvas, founding Blue Horse Sanctuary near Glen Rose, Texas. The sanctuary provides a safe haven for senior equines, retired and injured show horses, and donkeys, all living on 750 acres of hill country pastureland.

Since founding Blue Horse Sanctuary in 2015, 100 percent of proceeds from the sales of Auberty’s equine paintings have gone directly to the care of the horses. The exhibition is not just an artistic tribute—it is a call to action. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about the state of wild horses and burros in the U.S., conservation efforts to protect them, and the diverse network of Texans advocating for equine welfare.
